Description:
Introduction to Literary Studies is designed to
aid freshmen students in mastering the reading, writing, and critical thinking
skills necessary to succeed in all high school course work, as well as to
demonstrate proficiency in these skills as assessed. Competencies in sentence,
paragraph, and essay writing will be developed and sharpened, as will as those
involved in the accurate reading of academic texts, including both nonfiction
and fiction. Students will read and analyze works including novels,
biographies, autobiographies, graphic novels, informational texts, poems, etc.
By the end of this course, students will have gained the essential skill sets,
which will provide a solid foundation for growth over the next three years and
beyond.
